The Baie-Comeau Ladies’ Auxiliary was associated with the Boisvert Hospital on Carleton Street. It was a charitable organization that brought together women from the community.

The main activity of the Auxiliary Ladies was caring for the sick. Through this activity, they organized donation campaigns for comfort gifts during the holidays or to help families pay for care or funerals. They created crafts to sell at fairs and organized dance evenings whose profits went to charity.

During World War II, the Ladies’ Auxiliary joined forces with the Ladies’ Guild to found the town’s first bilingual newspaper, the Bulletin or Town Crier. The profits were used to support soldiers sent to the front during the conflict with small gifts. The organization continued to exist until the early 1980s.
